Media Conference Table Creation - Part 4
October 4, 2019This is part four of the creation of a new conference table for the Media Studio, made of formosan koa.
This is the end of one of the timber with the recess cut for the copper plate.
To cut the recesses all identically, we used a router and a template guide and a template (right).
Here Jnanideva is carefully sanding the ends of the timbers after the recesses have been cut.
Then Acharya Kumarnathaswami uses a fine cutting spokeshave to apply a scallop to each edge, using about ten strokes for each. Then each scallop is burnished.

Here jig guides a chisel to cut a small bevel on each corner
Card scrapers and a large scraper plane are handy for removing wood on this knarly grained wood.
