Lotuses for Siva
May 26, 2022The lotus is of course legendary, for its beauty and rarity, for its water-repelling leaves and more. Lotuses are everywhere in Iraivan.
Years ago we had a large pond with hundreds of plants and blossoms, but along came the tropical tilapia fish and ate them all (people eat the roots, too).
We are trying again and today four different kinds came to the garden, to be planted soon, this time in more protected areas.
Fond are our memories of our lotuses of yore.
They came in pots this afternoon.

They will go in the Narmada Valley.
This rock-liked area is (we think) too shallow for the fish. And Bodhinatha will see the flowers when they come, from across the pond.
We also took possession of eight pots of a special palm, Arenga hookeri.
This is what they will look like once we get them in our fertile ground. This is an exceptionally beautiful palm, grown in tropical countries commonly as a specimen or pot palm. It has very wide, large fishtail like leaflets on slender stems.
