Good morning everyone.
This morning we are continuing with "Merging with Siva" Chapter 9 entitled "Lotus of the Heart" drawn from the "1972 Master Course."
Lesson 59:
"The Evolution of Awareness
"The emanation of the light that wells from within the lotus of the heart is always there, regardless of what you do. You may not be aware of the existence of it, but it does exist. You may not care to realize it, but it still exists. When a man does not wish to look for the Self God, it is only because his awareness is busy in other areas of the mind, concerned with desires, and he is on the road to fulfill them. The fulfillment of desires causes reactionary conditions within the subconscious mind itself and clouds vision. This causes what is known as the darkness of the mind. When man wishes and desires to find his true Self, his external desires fall in line with basic religious codes for living, and he then is on the path. He is able to realize the essence of each desire on the path of enlightenment, and is able to sense Reality within himself.
"A beautiful practice is to try to sit quietly, visualizing within the lotus within the heart a light, a strong light emanating clearly, a light that is always there. This light is radiating at a higher vibration than any form with which you are familiar. Let us say, if you were to have this light in your hand and were able to use it in the external world, each form you turned it upon would disappear under the vibration of the light itself. That is as powerful as the effulgent light emanating from the Self, the Śivaness, which you will see within the lotus of the heart.
"The mind, or consciousness, is form with intense vibrations and lesser vibrations, all interrelating. When we are happy and joyous, we are aware of the refined states of consciousness. But when we are not happy or joyous, we are living in the grosser, darker areas of consciousness. We have all lived in the gross area of consciousness, and we have all lived in the happy, joyous areas of consciousness. This is the evolution of man’s individual awareness."
Then we get some Shum commentary here. The lessons in this chapter by the way are very short, so it makes the whole talk a bit short.
iftye (Important Shum word on light.)
Clear, brilliant, inner light; iftye is experienced in the fields of the fifth and sixth dimension; in the fifth dimension it is experienced as a brilliant inner light within the head bright and clear; in the sixth dimension, that light glows in every cell of the body through the torso, the hands, legs and feet; one can move into iftye through kalibasa once you have located balikana the slight moon-like glow within the head; it is easy to enter the state of iftye, provided that the area of nimrehnimling has been moved out of entirely. (Those are the images.)
Then we get a very long series here.
nadi
Astral nerve currents or conduits; this is a Sanskrit word as well; from "Dancing with Siva" lexicon it means: “conduit;” a nerve fiber or energy channel of the subtle (inner) bodies of man. It is said there are 72,000; these interconnect the chakras; the three main nadis are named ida, pingala and sushumna; ida is also known as chandra (moon) nadi, it is pink in color and flows downward, ending on the left side of the body; this current is feminine in nature and is the channel of physical-emotional energy; pingala is also known as surya (sun) nadi, it is blue in color and flows upward, ending on the right side of the body; this current is masculine in nature and is the channel of intellectual mental energy; sushumna, the major nerve current, passes through the spinal column from the muladhara chakra at the base to the sahasrara at the crown of the head.
Then we get the next one. After nadi we have:
danadi
Listening to or hearing external sounds while listening to the nada nadi shakti; the art of listening or hearing; this tantra will be imparted at the right time in the karmas; we must always listen to the subtle, taking it within and absorbing, then assimilating the words or sounds into knowledge; when danadi becomes an everyday practice, life is enriched and wisdom begins to come, for wisdom is the timely application of knowledge; by carefully listening to the tones of another’s voice it is possible to separate meaning from the words themselves.
"Yoga Sutras" has some sutras on that idea. Then we get:
nadanadi
Listening only to the high pitched eee sound of the nadanadi shakti, you are visiting nadanadi; it names the area of the mind awareness is within when listening to the nada, the high pitched eee sound, while also there are other sounds in the room or outside of it; it is unlike ii= kaif which names the state of consciousness when only the nada, or eee, is heard and awareness is not conscious of another sound; the sounds heard in the state of nadanadi are those such as birds chirping, the wind or the sea, while at the same time we are hearing the high-pitched eee called nada; to awaken the nada, sit quietly with eyes closed in the state of danadi and listen to the sounds in the room and outside of it; try to distinguish between them and any other kind of sound you might hear inside yourself, such as the breath or heartbeat; soon the nada, or eee, will come. When we only hear the nada and we are totally aware of it with no other distractions, this is called ii= kaif.
simnadanadi
Clear white light being traced to its source, the Self.
isimnadanadi
Bright, sharp, piercing, actinic light in the sahasrara.
kyisimnadanadi
Going into the quantum levels and experiencing them.
So that's the different depths of hearing the inner eee.
Lesson 60:
"The Pendulum of Emotion
"Man, awareness, seeks happiness, and when he finds happiness, he often finds fault with it, and then he becomes aware in an unhappy area of the mind. This gives him the power to seek happiness again. Man finds fault with happiness and begins to look for something better. In looking for something better, he becomes selfish, greedy, unhappy, and finally he attains what he thinks will make him happy. He finds that it does not, and this makes him again unhappy, and he goes on through life like this. That is the cycle of awareness traveling through the instinctive-intellectual areas of the mind. Therefore, when you are unhappy, don’t feel unhappy about it! And when you become happy, know that the pendulum of awareness will eventually swing to its counter side. This is the natural and the normal cycle of awareness.
"When you are feeling unhappy and you feel unhappy because you are unhappy, and you feel rather ill all over, sit down and breathe deeply. Try to control your individual awareness and become aware of an area of the mind that is always buoyant and happy. Be gentle with your awareness. Realize that you are not the unhappy area of the mind that you are aware of. Whatever was the cause of your unhappiness doesn’t really matter, because the powerful radiance within the lotus of the heart knows nothing of this unhappy area of the mind. You will be surprised at how quickly your awareness will move from the unhappy area of the mind, seemingly rejuvenate itself and become joyous again at the very thought of the Self God within the lotus of the heart."
So that's a very important concept that's easy to understand. When you as awareness, you never want to say "my awareness" cause you are awareness, so when you as awareness get stuck in an unhappy area of the mind, it's easy to remember the philosophy that we can move out of it but it's much harder to do. That's the point. There's a tendency to get attached to the unhappy area of the mind. It's human nature so we get stuck there. But, we need to apply the principle and move out as quickly as possible. So, that's the idea. There's nothing wrong with ending up in an unhappy state but we don't want to stay there longer than necessary. Want to quickly recover.
Thank you very much. Have a wonderful day.
