Old Man Palms
January 2, 2023For a couple of months now intense work has continued in the landscaping right near Iraivan Temple. Four stone circles are being created, raised gardens which hold five Old Man Palms each, (Cocothrynax crinata), a native of Cuba. It has a hairy white thicket surrounding the trunk, and some say it looks like an old man's white beard. Also, the team continues to cut and manage the new grass, which is clearly thriving in the tropical sun and rain.
The entire temple is rectilinear, so these four circles will stand out in contrast.
They are located where the four red dots are in this sketch.
A fun project, like playing in the sand. Wait, it is playing in the sand.
Worksite
This will be filled with cinder and compost.
Special bricks for making circles.
These are slow-growing, so will not tower around the temple. Even in ten years they will only be 8 feet tall.
The grass is kept weed-free by a dedicated team.
It\
s a special grass that creates a tight, short turf, and that loves to be walked on!'
