Spiritual Park Tour
September 16, 2023A long and leisurely walk through the Spiritual Park to acquaint ourselves with the many additions and improvements since we last visited in 2014. The Park has many visitors, up to 10,000 come here on Ganesha Chaturthi, and many do not know that it was Gurudeva who founded it. So they placed this founder's pavilion right at the front where everyone enters.
The tour was so informative. We were especially impressed with the three new pavilions, designed in Mauritian style with wood and thatch.
A quiet walk through the park:
Standing with members at the newly installed photo of Gurudeva as we begin our tour.
The ladies who do so much for Gurudeva\
s mission make the swami feel so welcome'
The frame around Gurudeva\
s large photo is beautifully carved.'
Off we go along the many walkways.
Down to the large platform that protrudes into the river.
In a week from now ten thousand will come to the Park and many will immerse their Ganesha murtis into the water at this point.
We stop at the miniature Shadkonam cactus garden, a nod to the larger one on Kauai.
The garden team has a surprise, planting a rudraksha tree. Paramacharya tells of the story of Gurudeva\
s Rudraksha Forest'
We all chant Namasivaya as the tree meets its now home
Tillainathaswami talks with Jean-Pierre, a donor to the garden and a plant lover.
All take a photo in front of the tree Bodhinatha planted.
Off to the riverfront
A few things are found that need to be fixed (of course)
One of the three new pavilions that are providing important spaces for classes and meetings
Getting ready for a satsang with the swamis
Here we return briefly to our time Kuala Lumpur before going to Mauritius, where we met the new son of Aran Pasupathi and family, full of joy
