Gurudeva’s Statement — Attack on America

All is quiet at the Aadheenam, but as usual a dynamic power flows within as all the monks are busy with their mission work and sadhana. Since Gurudeva’s Maha Samadhi we have had brilliant sunshine and clear days as we go through our “Hawaii fall,” period when the temperature drops to 70 degrees outside, and all the heat and humidity dissipate and leave us feeling like we are indeed living in paradise.

Title: Honoring of Gurudeva at the Kauai Rotary Club

Cybertalk: A New Shrine to Gurudeva has been created so that monks and
pilgrims may come and prostrate. Poipu Rotary Club had a meeting to honor
Gurudeva. The Mayor gave a speech and there was a brief video of Gurudeva.

Bodhinatha will be happy to hold “Prasnottara Satsang” — “Questions and Answers” over the telephone with any Hindu religious societies, Hindu youth groups, Radio talk show hosts etc. All you need is a phone with a speaker and an enthusiastic audience. Arrangements may be made in advance by sending email to Sadhaka Mahadevan

A recent successful innovation in our garden has been the fruiting of the “Sri Lankan snake gourd.” This is a vine, climbing plant that creates a very, very long thin succulent gourd that is easy to clean, cook, and is sooo tasty and nutritious. Here Thondunatha holds them up, showing how really long they are.

Last week some of the last pilgrims to visit us finally took their leave to go home. Here, from California, is Hotranatha Ajaya with his wife Punita (left in the back in white) daughter, Devika (in red) and Yatrika (in front). This was their first visit to Kauai. The family have been students of Saivism for many, many years and been studying with Gurudeva for nearly as long. Though they had little direct contact with Gurudeva in early years, they were fortunate and wise enough to take the opportunity to go on innersearch with him to Europe…

Christian Langers from Denmark sent these photos from that past innersearch and here we see Hotranatha participating in the Ganesha Visarjana of the “Northern Seas.”

Here is Gurudeva with Paramacharya Ceyonswami and Paramacharya Palaniswami at the temple in Denmark.

One of Gurudeva’s long time commitments has been to nurture and inspire the Sri Lankan immigrant communities in various countries around the world. Despite the tragedy of the war, the diaspora of the Sri Lankan Tamils has had the amazing and positive result of seeding the world with new Saivite Hindu communities in countries far and wide.

Iraivan Wonders

Work at the Iraivan temple site continues, steadily, powerfully, day after day. Here is a fantastic piece that is part of the sanctum.

It is unusual to watch the progress, because, with each course we rise higher and higher, but the retaining wall causes it all to “disappear.” If all goes well and the grace of generosity on the part of many donors flows strong, the inner sanctum is scheduled to be completed in early 2003. Then we will take down the retaining wall and will have, a small temple standing. So, it is not so far away…

The door to the main sanctum…. please give generously, email iraivan@hindu.org and request to sponsor a stone today!

Innersearch postponed

Due to the horrific tragedies of September 11th, Himalayan Academy has indefinitely postponed the Canadian Innersearch scheduled to leave next July. Please be assured, we will re-schedule the Innersearch, but only when the present insecurity around the world settles down. Until then, if you are planning to go on a future Innersearch program, continue to set aside a little income each month in a special fund.
