Update from the Road

Today Acharya and myself have been driving around and having meetings. We checked out of our San Jose hotel and headed to Ashwin and Lakshmi's house. These two Chinmaya Mission members are very bright and creative. We talked with Ashwin about creating music for our game project, for which he's an expert and we talked to Lakshmi about an upcoming article for HT about Bhakti and Music.
We then drove up to Graduate Theological Union in Berkley. Berkley is a nice university city full of expressive collage students walking the streets and countless little shops and restaurants which cater to them. It made for easy work to find some vegetarian lunch. But first we met with Professor Rita Sherma who gave us a wonderful explanation of her work there, establishing accredited educational programs focused on Hinduism. Her vision and the scope of her work is expanding as she is receiving a great deal of support from University leaders. They realize how crucial it is for the credibility of a multi-religious university to support the programs of the world's 3rd largest religion. She is very interested in our Agama collection for her programs and incorporating our digitized palm leaf collection into her work.

We then drove to Sacramento. We've checked into our Hotel which is a block away from the department of education and prepare for tomorrow's Instructional Quality Commission meeting. Aum Namah Sivaya
