A Phase of Sadhu Paksha
A special photo captures sunrise on this day, August 10, as the Diving Light of God Siva bathes Lord Arumugam under the massive banyan tree. This lunar phase the monks have been enjoying their first of two weeks of Sadhu Paksha. This observance takes place just before our three ritau changes throughout the year. It is a time of personal sadhana, appreciating nature and changing the usual routines in one’s daily practice. In the early morning some monks will wander the gardens around Iraivan, others might be found with Lord Shanmuga under the banyan or at Muruga Hill, and others might be found sitting near the pali, watching the morning light over the mountain. Meditations are done alone without the usual morning, group meditation taking place. The monks then gather for a 7:00am arati in Kadavul Temple to receive vibhuti blessings from Satguru before beginning their day. This is the last day of our phase, so we’ll see you in a few! Aum.
