We celebrate our beloved Gurudeva with today's September Chitra Puja.

The Need for a Wise Plan

Part 2 of Bodhinatha's talks on the secrets for success: Plan, Persistence, Push and Prayer. Given at Kadavul Temple on May 11, 2011. httpvh://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bDrkSVbMvZc

The Noble Parijatham Flower

  • http://t.co/VvojCO35 Years ago the monastery gave Deva and Amala Seyon a small sacred bush Parijatham, commonly called Coral Jasmine. It grew and is blooming wildly! He sent a photo today along with his poem on it: #
  • A tiny seed passed along . . . Potential vast, or dried and gone Thy fate does lie in loving hands Or left to wilt by roaring time... But if thy will to live and grow Thy bounty fresh your grace I know . . .

New Russian Edition Of Dancing with Siva Gets Underway

Brahmachari Dinanatha is the owner of Shivalingam LTD company in Moscow, Russia. He runs a large health spa there and conducts travel tours to India. Click here for his web site. He is very devoted to Gurudeva and Bodhinatha and is breathing new life into our Russian publications. During his visit last year to Kauai Aadheenam he lamented that the first editon of Dancing with Siva in Russian has long been out of print and that there would be a high demand for Gurudeva's teachings in Russia. He was prepared to get the job done.

So Himalayan Academy recently signed a new contract with Dinanatha, granting him rights to proceed with a new edition. He in turn has just signed a contract with Andriy Kostenko in Ukraine who was instrumental in getting some portions of the first edition translated. Andriy is also a Hindu at heart and his translation of Gurudeva's work is considered very good.

Today Dinanatha sent the good news of his agreement with Andriy, to purchase the rights to the translation and pay for the work on the balance. Andriy will now proceed with an upgrade to the original translation. (Some portions has been done by someone else to a lower standard). Here Dinanatha presents the contract to Gurudeva, who he has enshrined on his wall in Moscow.

Congratulations to Dinanatha and Andriy. Pranams to you both for moving forward with this project!

    Lyon Arboretum Visit

On September 12, Arumuganathaswami and Yogi Jothinatha went to Honolulu to attend a government agency meeting regarding the monastery's farm land across the river. In the afternoon we met with landscape architect Rick Quinn to talk about sandalwood growing. He has a particular interest in native Hawaiian plants and advocates their increased use in landscaping. We then went to the famed Lyon Arboretum just outside Honolulu to see some plants. Rick is a member of the Arboretum's board of directors.

Surinam Cherries Fruiting at the Aadheenam

Surinam Cherries are a sweet and tart fruit. This perfect Surinam Cherry was picked this morning and enjoyed shortly after the taking of this photo.

    Public Tour, Wednesday September 12th

Beautiful morning for our tour guests today. A little rain and then trade winds blew all the clouds away just in time for our walk through Siva's Gardens to Iraivan Temple. With Bodhinatha on the mainland, Parmacharya Sadasivanathaswami graciously met with our guests for the book signing event. Unusually inner group today as after the tour they all crowed into Kadavul Temple.
