Satguru Bodhinatha Veylanswami

Who Are the Four Great Tamil Saints? Path to Siva, Lesson 39 (January 17,2018)

Our saints have sung that Siva is within us, and we are within Siva.” Having devotion to Siva, having Siva in your heart, offers protection during difficult astrological times. Choose good days for major events in your life and for compatability in major partnerships. Siva is a compassionate God and the way He set up astrology was compassionate; it goes back and forth between positive and negative periods.

Who Are Our Holy Men and Women. The Spiritual Teaching of Saint Auvaiyar

Satguru Bodhinatha Veylanswami

Who Are Our Holy Men and Women? Path to Siva, Lesson 38 (January 10,2018, with some audio recording challenges that day)

“Bodhinatha describes the nature of the holy men and women of Saivism and relates the teachings of the women saint Auvaiyar. He shows how her focus is on dharma and at the same time, in her poem to Ganesha, how she exemplifies the nature of the monistic theism of our tradition — how theistic worship of the Deity takes us deep into inner awakenings of monism, being one with Siva.

Path to Siva: What Is Our Heritage of Gurus?

Satguru Bodhinatha Veylanswami

Bodhinatha’s Latest Upadeshas – Commentaries on Path to Siva
What Is Our Heritage of Gurus? Path to Siva, Lesson 36 (December 27,2017)

“Since the beginning of time, the power, or shakti, of God Siva has been carried forth by enlightened beings, satgurus.” Spiritual progress is achieved through abhyasa, daily practice, and vairagya, dispassion.
Dispassion is being detached enough to be getting happiness from inside ourself not outside from the world. Control awareness; find and claim joyousness and peace every day in all environments. “Naam ariyom-We do not know.” When we get really deep inside to find the deepest truth it can not be explained.

Satguru Bodhinatha Veylanswami

Bodhinatha’s Latest Upadeshas – Commentaries on Path to Siva
How Do We Prepare For Death? , Lesson 34 (November 12,2017)

For our “Great Departure” we prefer to be at home in a religious, uplifting environment, in a clear minded high state of consciousness, having resolved all differences and fulfilled all obligations. There is nothing to fear: “Death is a blissful, light filled transition.” We then get settled in the inner worlds with like-minded people of similar religious beliefs.

What is Reincarnation – Bodhinatha Comments on Lesson 33 of Path to Siva

Satguru Bodhinatha Veylanswami

The destiny of all souls without exception is moksha. To achieve moksha we need to engage in the world positively, fulfill dharma well, resolve karma and realize God not just once but fully in a profound way. That’s why we are reborn and have reincarnation. Realization, liberation, evolvement on the inner plane, and then merger-vishvagrasa in Siva. Siva’s point of view: He is everyone, doing everything. “Each lifetime is but one stride on the great journey of your soul.”

Yogaswami's Messages in English

Yogaswami Sings with DevoteesSiva Yogaswami’s song were the panacea he created to guide and uplift his devotees. Many miracles are ascribed to those who sang his songs, the majority of which he sang for particular individuals in response to a specific need or occasion. When devotees would appeal for help or were in need of guidance, Swami’s response was a song, often for them to sing themselves to make their appeal to the Divine.
He said, “Sing to melt the very stones!” and he himself was a master artist and song composer. His lyrics arose spontaneously from his superconscious, without any need for “word craft” … verses just flowed from him in consummate Tamil akin to the magical Tamil of the Saiva Saints like Arunagirinathar.
While the Tamil and music is beautiful, the message is the key and to make this heritage available to the next generation we need to have some of his songs in English. And audio today is a primary channel for the next generation. After his passing his four chief disciples created the book “Natchintanai, Songs and Sayings of Yogaswami, Translated from the Original Tamil.” Published by the Sivathondan Society (currently not available in the US) Kulamata Bhavani Param was inspired to take some of these translations and sing them in traditional ragam (melodic scales) with her grand-daughter Sandhyadevi. Two songs are now available on line (SivaSiva App users can download these on the “Recent Additions” in the Listen Portal.)

What Is Dharma? Bodhinatha Comments on Path to Siva

Satguru Bodhinatha Veylanswami

Bodhinatha’s Latest Upadeshas – Commentaries on Path to Siva
Path to Siva, Dharma, Lesson 32 (September 29, 2017)
Dharma is religious patterns which when followed promote the wellbeing of the individual, the family and society. Patterns so that the soul matures and gets closer to God, closer to realizing the Divinity within. Dharma is: “The orderly fulfillment of an inherent nature or destiny,” working on instinctive, intellectual and intuitive natures. Destiny is fixed: Realization. Personal dharma, “your own perfect pattern in life”, is different for the sannyasin and the householder.

Karma, Fate, Destiny

Satguru Bodhinatha VeylanswamiIn this commentary on Chapter 31 of Path to Siva, Bodhinatha clarifies the meanings behind three relate and common concept: karma, fate, destiny.
“There are three kinds of karma: the karma of all deeds done in our past lives; the karmas we bring into this birth to experience; and the karmas we are making by our actions now.”
Karma is an automatic system of divine justice. Karma is self-created destiny; a consequence or fruit of action, karmaphala. By accepting not reacting, performing karma yoga, karma can be softened, mitigated. Seeking the grace of God and guru in the right spirit, the mind focused on the Deity and open to blessings, receiving the intense grace of the Deity in a powerful pilgrimage can actually eliminate karma.

The Saiva Path – Amazing Talk on Saiva Siddhanta!

Satguru Bodhinatha VeylanswamiIn this commentary on Chapter 30 of Path to Siva, Bodhinatha encapsulates the entire path of Saiva Siddhanta in one short talk. Don’t miss it!
Key concepts: Naalupadasaivam: “A Saiva doctrine that the initiate should pass successively through charya, kriya, yoga and jnana stages and thence obtain moksha.” The charya pada, the dasa marga, path of servitude. Sharing the world of God. The kriya pada, satputra marga, true son’s way. Nearness to God. The yoga pada, sakha marga, way of the friend, experiencing inner light, sharing the superconscious mind. We talk to God. The jnana pada, san marga, sayujya patavi, union with God. There is no difference between Siva and the soul. God is our dearest Beloved. The three types of temples provide training and experience leading to worship and meditation in the Atma kovil.

Where Is the Moon That You ?

The Moon

“… You say you see the moon. But where do you see the moon?
You might say, ‘Out, there, somewhere.’
But where is ‘out there?’
Where do you see the moon?
Where do you conceive it? …”

–Gurudeva, The Point of Conception is the Apex of Creation
